Details:

Did you know that in 2004 57 million internet users were targeted by spoof emails?
On average about 5% of these targets fell victims to the fraud.

I know what your thinking. You are saying to yourself "I dont get any spoof emails" or "I already know how to spot a spoof email"
Well I used to think exactly the same as you until I fell victim to a PayPal spoof email. The email tricked me into entering my PayPal username and password into a fake website, allowing the fraudster to access my account. Fortunatly I was lucky as PayPal managed to deal with the fraudster before any money was taken from my account. I was lucky, but unfortuantly many people arent so lucky. Millions of people each year fall for scams like this, make sure you arent one of them!

Before this attack I considered myself to be quite knowledgeable about spoof emails, and thought that I could spot them. However spoof emails are now becoming more and more complex and difficult to spot. Take a look at the two emails below, can you tell that these are spoof emails?

As you can see from the above emails, if you werent on your guard 24/7 you could easily fall victim to one of these scams. The worrying thing is that the fraudsters are now finding more and more ways to hide these spoof emails and make them more genuine. It used to be as easy as looking at who the email was addressed to. If it says "Dear Member" then it is a spoof, unfortunatly as you can see from the first example above, some spoof emails have started to address you by your username!

Spoof emails dont just come from eBay or PayPal. I recieve over five spoof emails a day from "Banks" telling me that there has been a software crash, or my details need updating. Obviously if you were to submit your bank details to a fraudster the conciquences dont bare thinking about.

If you arent already recieving any spoof emails then I guarantee that if you use eBay or PayPal then it will only be a matter of time before you get targeted. So when you do get a spoof email make sure you know exactly how to spot them.
That is where my system comes in.

Allow me to present to you "The Spoofbuster© eMail challenge!":

This is a brand new test that I have created to spot spoof emails. I have spent months researching all of the different trends that can be found in spoof emails and devised four tests that will identify ANY spoof email.
